What you already have

If you drive trucks professionally in South Africa, these are your everyday working documents.

• 1Code 14 (EC) licence You already have this
  Must be valid.
• 2PDP (Professional Driving Permit) You already have this
  Must be valid. Renew at the Licensing Department if expired.
• 3Medical certificate You already have this
  Done when you got your PDP. The employer does not ask for a new one.

What you need to arrange

• 4Passport
  Valid passport. Recommended: 2–3 years validity.
• 5Police clearance (PCC) + apostille
  The longest step — start with this one.
• 6International Driving Permit (IDP)
  Issued the same day.
• 7Proof of experience
  Employer letter confirming 1+ year of experience. You'll find an example of what this letter can look like in the checklist.
• 8Copies of everything
  The final step before you apply.
